- Surgery Description
- The surgery usually takes three hours and the lady stays for few hours in the hospital after the surgery then she can go home
- It can be done under general anesthesia, with an horizontal incision

- Preparation
- There are some laboratories needed to be sure that the lady is in good general health before the surgery such as Breast Tumor Markers, Complete blood picture, Liver and kidney functions, Coagulation profile and Random blood sugar
- Some Investigations needed such as Bilateral Soft Tissue Mammography, Chest Xray, Metastatic Workup
- Smoking is forbidden totally three weeks before and another three weeks after the surgery
- Convalescence
- Usually the patient stays three to five days at home after the surgery then she can return to her work or normal activities
- Must avoid sweating and wetting of the wounds
- There will be minimal pain, edema and bruises first ten days after the surgery which will be minimized by certain prescriptions written for her
- It is very important that she must wear the suitable pressure garment prescribed for her for one and half months after the surgery
